I have spent three months living in Palestine and Israel as an Ecumenical
Accompanier offering protective presence to vulnerable communities, monitoring and
reporting Human Rights abuses and supporting Palestinians and Israelis who work
towards a just peace.
During my stay, the world has
witnessed the most significant escalation in violent attacks and clashes
between Palestinians and Israelis across the occupied Palestinian Territory
since the Israel-Gaza conflict in summer 2014. According to different sources
this has resulted in the following killings and violations:

While the majority of the
Palestinians killed were shot after allegedly carrying out attacks on Israelis,
a number of alleged attacks have been disputed by witnesses and investigations
by rights groups, who say the suspects posed no threat at the time of their
death.
Since the beginning of October 2015,
Israeli forces have killed at least 22 Palestinians in the Hebron district, and
according to the Palestinian Red Cross, shot and wounded at least 2,617
Palestinians with live and rubber-coated steel bullets. The Israeli military’s
excessive use of force and extrajudicial killings have been condemned by
Amnesty International, the UN High Commissioner of Human Rights and the Relief
and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees.
